    Red face Illinois Hedge

I would like to plant an interesting hedge in my zone 5 garden. The space is only about 4' wide and I would like the plant to grow at least 6' tall. Any ideas?

Box wood, barberry, yew, or privet.

My favorite for an inpenetrable almost dagerous shrub that IS hardy in your zone would be the Flying Dragon oranges or one of it's descendents. Poncirus Trifoliata... Nasty 3 inch thorns on the beast but has great character even in the winter. Don't try eating the fruit...

I'm really more like a Z6 but I know folks who have them in a good solid Z5.
