    Default Herb garden Advice

I would like to plant a herb garden in a few weeks. The problem is I live in a condo and only have a very small partially covered porch to work with. It is in an alleyway on the 4th floor of a 5 story buidling with another buidling next to it. It only receives a few hours of morning sun. I would like to know what herbs will work with little direct sun and what won't, out of the more common varities you would find at a grocery store. When I google this question a list of "shade herbs" i never heard of comes up and obviously I would never use either. Any feedback would be great... thanks

Unfortunately most herbs do require a large amount of sun.

    Maybe mint, chives.

Basil will grow, but not as well without more sun. And that really is the story with a lot of herbs, they will grow with less sun, just not well.

Rosemary definitely needs sun, as does lavender.

Thyme... probably in the same boat as basil.
