    Hi

I have to move a maple plant from my garden to my friend's garden !
Its quite large, about chest height with a similar circumference. Any advice on the best way to do this?? I will take as much of the roots and earth around them as i can.

Please give some useful tips to keep maple safe while shift
    Thanks

    Default moving a large plant

    Hi Garden Geek,

Be sure to water the maple plant well a couple days before you move it. It will appreciate the drink and the soil will be easier to dig if it is not muddy.

Have a large container (a large can would be better than a plastic bag for protection) and dig around the roots. Keep as much soil as possible.

Have the new hole already dug if possible. It needs to be almost twice as wide and twice as deep as the root ball. Then fill it in halfway with the best of the soil you took out mixed with peat moss. Put the maple in the hole, add some water, the rest of the soil-peat mixture, and then water again.
