Thread: Help with Japanese Maple

    Default Help with Japanese Maple

We bought another house recently and I moved our japanese maple. It had only been planted at he old house 2 years ago. It had all new leaves on it when I transplanted it and now it looks terrible! All the leaves have died. I'm not sure what I need to do to help it. Maybe it is in shock. Any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks so much for your help,

Unfortunately tree transplanting is a very risky manuever, you can easily kill the tree if you do it incorrectly, or at the wrong time of the year.

Just keep it watered and hope it comes back, but you may have killed it.

Also, if you moved it from shade to sun, that might be the cause as well. Some maples need shade, especially in the south.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. But that unfortunately doesn't sound too promising. I sure hope it lives!
    Thanks again,
    Kathy
