Default New Raised Bed Advice Needed

I have 2 raised beds and am looking to add a 3rd. I am going to be using PT wood. They will be 5"x10".

Just wondering...Is there a height that folks like? I was thinking about 8" to 10" of soil.

    Default Btw...

I want it mainly for Tomatoes.

Next question is can I just use regular top soil and bake in some materials over the next couple of years?

    Default Found some fill

I found a local, organic supplier of compost to deliver a couple of yards for the bed I am about to build. I am going with 2x12s for the sides. The dimensions of the bed will be 10"x5"x12'.

Those timbers are very heavy. Thankfully I have a friend coming over tomorrow for some help.

    Default Raised Beds

If you're doing raised beds, you really need only 6" of soil, but it should be a mix of soil, compost/peat and something like vermiculite to help keep the soil light and airy and it doesn't get compacted.

Good luck! Post pictures if you have time once you've got it in and it's producing for you.
