Thread: Tomatillos from the nursery

    Default Tomatillos from the nursery

I just picked up a couple of tomatillo plants from the nursery. I have never grown them before and was excited to find them. They are about 14" high and each one has several flowers already. Should I pinch off the flowers? I heard that for some plants, this was a good thing to do with early nursery plants since it allows more energy to go into actually growing the plant rather than the fruit.

Also, the stems see much more vine-like than bush-like. Would they benefit more from staking or trellising?
    Thanks!

I am growing Tomatillos for the first time this year. From what I have have researched, no, do not pinch off the flowers, get 3 or 4 plants for proper germination. Also lots of Nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer is needed.
