I have had more than one bad experience with "Pinetree Garden Seeds". The seeds I order from this company do not sprout. Additionally the order delivery has consistently been terribly slow. Latest experience has ruined a christmas gift due to their actual delivery schedule not matching what is indicated in the catalog.

Can anyone recommend a more reliable company ?

Lots of seed companies out there. http://www.burpee.com/ is the biggest I believe.

Hi tulip14,

Another good seed company is http://www.parkseed.com

I've been ordering from them for years and have never had any problems with them.

If your in Britain, Chiltern seeds, thompson and morgan, suttons, kings, secret seeds and also, for more specialist edibles, agroforestry seeds.

I have been buying from Cooks Garden for a few years because they carried organic seed, and lots of varieties that can't easily be found. I was surprised a few days ago to get my '09 catalogue and notice that the company has apparently been sold to Burpee. The letter inside from the owner was signed with the familiar signature of George Ball. There is no mention of "organic" seed, instead, they are touting it as "the premiere seed source for European Garden Vegetables". The stuff inside looks okay and is on a par with Burpee pricewise. Still, I wish it was still the folksy organic company I came to know and trust.
