Hello, I'm new here and looking to find out about growing black pepper. Anyone know anything about it? Know where to find more info? Thanks!!:D

Hi, Vanilla, nice to meet you. :) First of all, can you tell us which gardening zone you're in and then maybe we can help you some more?

I've no experience of growing black pepper myself and wouldn't know where to start but would be happy to help you find out if you can share some more details. :)

Wow, Hi! I am in zone 8 but I don't think that really matters. It's a tropical plant and I'm growing it in my sun room :D I would love any info that you can find, I'm having no luck :o

Hello Vanilla, I am not so sure about the cultivation of these black pepper plants as I never tried to cultivate one on my own, check out the link which might be of help.http://www.plantcultures.org/plants/black_pepper_production__trade.html

Like tea and tobacco, black pepper is something I'd love to try and cultivate one day just for fun. Do let us know how you get on.

I've been wanting to grow different varieties of peppercorns to make a peppercorn medley, but I'd be lucky to grow black pepper. Maybe this will help: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/herbs/msg0418152311306.html

What sort of climate do you live in? Black pepper is native to warmer regions, and isn't really cultivated in the US that I know of.

I have never tried to grow black pepper. Would like to try, but I really don't think that it would do too good around where we live.
