We're new to the daylily gardens, but we're having some issues. We currently have happy returns and little business planted. The foliage looks great but once they bloom they form more like hard buds that never open. This is happening a lot. I have heavy clay soil but thought this would still be alright. What do you think the problem is?

I've gotten them from many websites, ebay included, daylilies.net I think was my source for the border.

Any flower fertilizer will do.

To divide, once foliage starts coming up, dig up and cut apart making sure each section includes roots and 1 fan (point of origin for foliage growth). Then replant each cutting. Really easy.

Ok.. I know this might be a dumb question but...how do I divide my day lilies? They have been in the ground for about 3 or 4 years. The first year they bloomed really nice..since.. only a few. I am in the Dallas area. What fertilizer and how often do you use it. Also, can you share what website you get yours from?
Thanks,
Gina

they die back in winter, and reappear in spring (dormant). Some daylilies are evergreen or semi-evergreen though. Just not these ones.

Do the Happy Returns Daylilies stay green during the winter months or do they die away like Lantania, etc.? I don't know anything about this daylily. Thank you for any information that you could give me.

Thanks!
